The glassware in question is the Toughened Duralex Picardie Glass Tumbler, used by Bond, James Bond, as he tries to enjoy a drink (presumably a Martini), with a rather menacing looking scorpion on his hand.

Pre movie fame, the Duralex Picardie tumblers were known as the “original French tumblers”. Functional, stylish and extremely comfortable in the hand, the Picardie tumblers are available in four sizes from Stephensons.

Named after the Picardie province in northern France, these glasses have a real retro vibe and certain nostalgia, as one harks back to days of using them at school dinners!

To give you a breakdown, The Northern Restaurant and Bar Show was attended by 5,672 visitors, of which 88% of those were from the North of England. 200+ businesses exhibited and visitors got to soak up and enjoy over 50 live events and cooking demonstrations.

We are delighted to announce a significant expansion of our premises on Buxton Road, Stockport, home of the largest catering equipment showroom and Cash and Carry facility in the North.

Our site is set to grow from 20,000 sq ft, to over 30,000 sq ft, as we take over the neighbouring premises to ours, previously occupied by Piggott & Whitfield Ltd, in a deal worth over half a million pounds.

In the short term, we intend to utilise the additional 10,000 sq ft of space for additional storage, however, within the next five years we intend to carry out a full upgrade of the entire site.

Managing Director, Henry Stephenson, comments: “We have recorded good growth over the last five years and, as such, our current site capacity has been severely stretched during busy seasonal periods. The expansion of our facility in Stockport will ease some of this pressure, allowing us to re-organise our picking locations to improve warehouse efficiency and to re-locate goods in, thereby separating it from goods out.

“With reduced warehouse pressure, our customers will receive an improved service, as well as even better prices as a result of our increased buying capability. We had begun seeking more space elsewhere, so are very pleased with this expansion as there will be no significant impact for our staff or for the large number of customers who like to use our Cash and Carry. After 45 successful years at our current location, I’m delighted we have been able to take steps to ensure our premises can continue to grow with us.”
