Inspired by ancient glazed pottery
Attractive and durable
From the reliable Steelite Performance collection
Crackling occurs when the glaze does not fit the clay body of the ware correctly, causing it to fracture into beautiful linear patterns, covering the entire surface of the glazed piece. Crackle patterns have a long and distinguished history going back millennia and their origins can be found in the very earliest examples of glazed pottery. In fact, ancient oriental potters delighted in this effect and sought to maximise it by either rubbing coloured ink into the gaps caused by the crackle, or alternatively, leaving the ware submerged in sewers for many months and letting the ooze do the work.
Ink, from Steelite, is a range that celebrates these traditional crackle patterns. The Crackle effect features interspersing lines that evoke timeless handcrafted pottery decoration methods. These beautiful pieces will add texture and nuance to casual and contemporary food presentations. Steelite Ink Crackle is also aesthetically compatible with both plain white and many of Steelite's other craft inspired ranges.
Alongside its alluring finish, Crackle is part of Steelite's Performance collection and as such all products are microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe, with high resistance to scratches and thermal/mechanical shock. Steelite are also so certain of the durability of the Ink range that it is backed up by thier lifetime edge chip warranty.
